What is more fun that exploring a castle? There are more than 600 castles in Wales! (sorry, we are not listing them all) There are actually more castles per square mile in Wales than any other place in the world. North Wales has some of the most beautiful castles you will find anywhere. Some there lived in for a thousand years and some have become beautiful romantic ruins.

Inside Wrexham county, 13th-century Marcher castle, that has been the home of the Myddelton family for over 400 years. The castle features a 5.5 acre award-winning garden, 480 acres of working parkland, ancient veteran trees, wildflower meadows and part of Offa’s Dyke.

Caernarfon Castle is recognized around the world as one of the greatest buildings of the Middle Ages. This fortress-palace on the banks of the River Seiont is grouped with Edward I’s other castles at Conwy, Beaumaris and Harlech as a World Heritage Site.

Built between 1278–82 by Dafydd ap Gruffudd (d. 1283), brother of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, on lands given to him by Edward I and taken from Powys, it was the last castle to be built by a native Welsh prince.

Built between 1820 and 1837, this neo-Norman Castle has a beautiful walled garden with fountains and plants that pre-date the castle. 60 acres of woodland and garden surrounds the castle with an amazing view of Snowdonia's summits.
